I had a wonderful day this week on a tour tailor-made for my interests. Martin had communicated with me in detail prior to the date and fitted-in all the places I wanted to see – he also had as much information as I asked for. As a single traveller I was very comfortable and relaxed in the company of both the guide and driver. The car was extremely comfortable and at no point did I feel rushed.

I contacted Shropshire Tours to ask about Cadfael tours in the area, and was bowled over when they not only offered a tour, but put one together to cover the maximum amount of area-of-interest on the January day that we had suggested. The preparation was excellent (we were even left a map and a book of Cadfael walks at our hotel, which came in very handy) and the tour itself was extremely engaging, taking into account Cadfael sites and history, but also some really interesting sites and history of the area in general. Really excellent day out.

6 Anglophiles who know England so well but had never been to Shropshire had the most amazing tours personalized for us by Martin! He took the time and interest to find out what our own interests were and presented some wonderful options to us, cheerfully adjusting last minute requests. Robert was our guide. He is amazingly knowledgeable, personable, and riveting in his narratives. Even our 2 different bus drivers (different days) participated in our conversations and journey. The bus was clean and very comfortable. Martin also went well above and beyond to make sure our Shropshire stay was enjoyable, even beyond the tours! BEST TOUR GUIDES EVER. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up! I spent 3 weeks staying with friends around Europe, but doing this tour alone was my FAVORITE part of the entire trip. Having had a trip on the Llangollen Railway for our first child’s Christening celebration, we wanted something a bit different for our second son’s christening. My wife exchanged many emails with Martin, who was patient and very good at communicating, coming up with ideas, and fitting an itinerary to the time available. In just four hours we had a very pleasant but indirect (to take in some lovely countryside) tour of North Shropshire. Built in was a stop at Ellesmere lake enough to have refreshments and also feed the ducks. Then to Whittington Castle where Martin arranged the afternoon tea. Martin and Andy conducted our daylong tour, including Chirk Castle, the Aqueduct Canal at Llangollen and so many beautiful vistas in the countryside. Martin was so accommodating in booking our tour to include whatever interested us (even though we invariably deferred to his superior knowledge) He was so knowledgeable and informative – an added benefit for 3 history buffs. The tour guide “Martin” researched my family tree and arranged a wonderful day tour for me that included many sites my ancestors had lived from 1070-1910, estates, churches & graveyards….I am so glad I booked my tour with this company, as it was the highlight of my visit!

We could never have done this tour on our own, plus Martin and Ted provided history, stories, and local information we could never have duplicated. It was the best money and time we spent in the UK and hopefully, we can come again to cover even more of Shropshire!
