Martin Haycock and Andy Hawkins run Shropshire Tours. They are both Shropshire natives and have a real love of Shropshire, the people and places.
Martin worked for the Visitor Information Centre in Shrewsbury for many years gaining a wealth of knowledge about Shropshire and experience in the tourist industry, before starting Shropshire Tours in 2012.
Andy was a Police Officer for 25 years. He is a highly trained driver as well as having extensive knowledge of the County.
Andy is a local and has always lived in Shrewsbury. He worked for 25 years as a Police Officer and has extensive professional driving experience as well as excellent local knowledge.
Martin worked for British Gas for 32 years in a variety of managerial roles.Then at museums in the world famous Ironbridge Gorge, the home of the industrial revolution. He also worked on the historic Severn Valley railway in Shropshire. In 1997 he joined the Visitor Information Centre, Shrewsbury.
Martin became a Shrewsbury town guide in 1992 and has attended numerous courses and lectures concerning the history of Shrewsbury and Shropshire.
Martin left the VIC in 2012 to start Shropshire Tours.
Martin’s historical knowledge and many anecdotes are a must for any visitor. He has travelled to most parts of the UK,( and a large part of the USA.)
