A warm welcome to Shropshire

Welcome to Shropshire Tours where we offer couples private and exclusive day tours in a luxurious vehicle. We also have the facility to offer tours for  groups.

Each tour will have an experienced, qualified guide and a specialist driver to look after you, so you have no worries over navigating, traffic, finding places or parking – we do it all.  You just relax while taking in the beautiful sights and hearing local stories.

Come to Shropshire and enjoy its many wonderful attractions. From Scenic beauty, Historic buildings (and ruins!), museums, manicured Gardens, living Victoriana,  to aircraft and steam trains. There are two World Heritage sites (Ironbridge Gorge and Vale of Clwyd) within 35 minutes drive of Shrewsbury.

It is also known for it’s great variety of ‘one-off’ shops – far away from the hustle and bustle of cities. It makes a truly memorable place to take U.K. holiday vacations.

Out of 90 counties in England, Shropshire is the 6th least populated, which helps explain the relaxing feel.

It has a truly remarkable variety of places to visit, or just view, ranging from the first Iron Bridge in the World, the original ancestor of all skyscrapers, to a Cold War headquarters to an area with the greatest number of the known geological ages. It has a wealth of timber-framed houses, including the first ‘Black & White’ house, many of which are in the six main market towns.

Wales has spectacular countryside interspersed with fascinating towns and thriving villages. The Celtic traditions are all around with the magnificent Castles, Churches and Cathedrals. ‘Float in the sky’ on Thomas’ Telford’s magnificent Pontcysyllte aqueduct.

All these are within comfortable range and we ‘mix & match’ to produce your ideal tour.

At Shropshire Tours we use all our experience to make your visit one to treasure.

How can we help?

Simply tell us what interests you, or let us suggest some options. We will design an itinerary and quote you a price. Then leave it all to us.

Having had a trip on the Llangollen Railway for our first child’s Christening celebration, we wanted something a bit different for our second son’s christening. My wife exchanged many emails with Martin, who was patient and very good at communicating, coming up with ideas, and fitting an itinerary to the time available. In just four hours we had a very pleasant but indirect (to take in some lovely countryside) tour of North Shropshire. Built in was a stop at Ellesmere lake enough to have refreshments and also feed the ducks. Then to Whittington Castle where Martin arranged the afternoon tea. The coach was provided by Longmynd, the driver – Sam – was extremely professional and very smooth and steady. There were two of us on board who drove or drive buses and we both were impressed, not many young drivers these days drive so well, and he is a credit to his employer.
We had the Shrewsbury Town Crier Martin Wood to point out some sights and also to entertain us with some stories and myths of Shropshire.
The ladies in the cafe at Whittington Castle were lovely too and laid on a good spread for us.
Whilst yes if you knew exactly what you wanted I’m sure you could organise each component yourself, we didn’t actually know what we wanted, and Martin listened and constructed our afternoon for us with patience and a lot of help. Everyone enjoyed the trip including my brother and sister in law from Paris and my niece from Toulouse. Oh and Toby, who is three, who helpfully suggested which way we would be turning next!
